presentation poster - lazy oaf
imaginary scenario
I have applied for a design job and my potential (Lazy Oaf) has asked me to provide them with a 2-page presentation poster that showcases my work as a designer while also demonstrating my ability to respond to the theme of 'pop' that relates to their brand.
The presentation poster will showcase my analogue visualisation skills in a graphic digital format.
As part of the assignment, I was also required to develop a basic thematic tool kit of a mood board and style guide to reflect on the theme of 'pop'. These tools formed the basis of my layout.
For the first page of my presentation, I created a layout similar to that of an editorial magazine/catalogue cover promoting an upcoming fashion collection. This helped to set the type of visuals, typography and layout that I could imagine for the second page.
I edited the photo in Photoshop, and then drew and edited the graphic elements in Illustrator before placing them on the edited photo in Photoshop.
To go with the 'pop' theme, I was inspired by graphics in the Netflix series 'Stranger Things' third season which is based on the summer of 1985. For instance, the ice cream patches on the girl's jeans are inspired by 'Scoops Ahoy', the ice cream parlour where Steve works.
The second page is very much an editorial spread for fashion outfits, similar to that found in Frankie magazines and retailer catalogues. The small text describes what each 'model' wears and how Stranger Things inspired the graphics.
I include a brief description of myself as a graphic designer following the scenario that I have applied for a design job and this is my application for that job.
The mood board sets the colours, style of graphics and inspiration from Stranger Things that helped me keep the two pages and graphics consistent.
