Danny’s Salon
I often get inspired by music and musicals, this project was inspired by one of the characters from the 'In the Heights' musical by Lin Manuel Miranda. Daniela or 'Danny' is the owner of a beauty salon where the ladies often go to get beautified and gossip. The song 'No Me Diga' translates to 'you don't say, referring to the ladies reaction when hearing a new piece of gossip. I had this song in my head for a while so to get it out of my system I created a logo for Danny's salon.
Everything was drawn by hand, the typography, the illustrated icons and the logo variations. The colour palette is based on 60's pink and pink neon signs which I can imagine being in the window display of 'Danny's Salon'. The red and browns were inspired by the 'In the Heights' album cover with its red title and brown cityscape background. The illustrated icons are inspired by vintage hairdryer and scissors and the 'No Me Diga' saying of the ladies.
