our house is on fire

infographic series

‘Our house is on fire’ is an infographic series that communicates the impact of global warming to educate members of the public on the effects and future pathways. The story is broken down into a series of information visualisations, the first is a bar and line graph which identifies the increase in temperature and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

The second is an area graph that illustrates the human influences, particularly through the carbon emissions from different sectors.

The third is a bar graph that shows how the increase in global average temperature and CO2 emissions has also increased the amount of extreme weather and climate events we experience each year.

The fourth visualisation is a line graph showing how the different paths we take on controlling or not controlling greenhouse gas emissions will affect the temperature increase in the years to come.

Together these visualisations communicate that following the 1.5 – 2 degrees goal of the Paris Agreement will help in reducing global warming and the effects it has on weather events, but only if we act now.

It has been designed in a manner that allows it to be posted in a multipage post on Instagram, as well as in a trifold square leaflet to be handed out at schools or climate change rallies and events.
